This new project aims to develop a unique and distinctive role for schools in the transformation of Elephant and Castle.
Learning Cities will help to:
- form 14 local schools into a partnership body which can develop and deliver a new set of learning guarantees, and pioneer a joint campus approach to improving teaching and learning
- develop new teaching and learning styles and a local curriculum, with associated guarantees (eg The Elephant Curriculum, The Elephant Quality Mark; and standardised teacher training across the campus schools)
- secure the support of business, public and voluntary organisations to develop the initiative.
Projects developed across the Elephant schools include:
- Netfolio Learning Cities - using this online digital portfolio system for young people, as a transition tool between primary and secondary school
- WebElephant - using IT to connect teachers and pupils across the Elephant schools. Pupils will interact virtually with professionals from the community to help develop their 'Dream High Street'. Using IT, pupils can feedback their ideas to community leaders.
