Using our programme of Professional Development Placements (PDPs), teachers spend 1-5 days with a London business - gaining new skills and knowledge, finding out more about the world of work, and reflecting on ways to develop their teaching.
Professional development placements:
- provide exciting and innovative management development opportunities for teachers
- provide teachers with up to date knowledge of the world of work and a chance to exchange information about current education practice and employers' needs
- provide teachers with first hand experiences in a range of contexts, to assist curriculum development.
What happens? Teachers or business partners request placements according to need. For example, Martin Tissot, Head of St. Michael's School, used a staff training day to give a one-day professional development placement to every member of staff. The day was useful, informative and enjoyable for participants.
There is no need for any specific training. However, a clear idea of what you want to get out of the programme usually ensures quality placements.
Organisations offering professional development placements include:
- PricewaterhouseCoopers
- Tesco's
