WebPlay is an internet-based project enabling primary school children to create, produce and perform dramatic plays in collaboration with a professional theatre company and children from schools in different countries.
Children in Southwark are linked with schools in New York and Los Angeles through the WebPlay website. They learn about each others cultures and countries and create a live theatre production to put on the website.
WebPlay tackles the 'digital divide' by enabling children to use the web in fun and interactive ways - targeting children who might not otherwise get the chance to experience and enjoy the benefits of new technology.
WebPlay develops skills in literacy, IT and communication.
